Jungle Habitat
Located in West Milford New Jersey, Jungle Habitat is a former drive through safari that caters to hikers, mountain bikers, and adventure seekers in the present day.
Jungle Habitat was owned by Warner Brothers and opened in the summer of 1972. It remained in operation for a mere 4 years. Plagued by a number of animal attacks and other complaints from townsfolk and patrons, Warner Brothers closed the gates to the park in 1976. In the present day much of the park still remains. Animal cages, roads, the parking lot, the entrance, and other aspects of the park are still intact to be explored by the curious.
Present Day
Today the park is used for various recreation purposes. Hiking and mountain biking being the dominant uses. The park is currently administered by Ringwood State Park with the aid of Ramapo Valley Cycling and JORBA. There is an annual bike race in the park, Rumble in the Jungle, and West Milford also uses the location for it's annual Fourth of July fireworks celebration.
